LOCATION OF LICENSE FILE FOR INTEL FORTRAN

After confusion during my license renewal, I have received a new serial number and was then forced to download a license file.  I am now nor sure whether the license file should be in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses" or "program files (86)" OR  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\Licenses" which is where all my old license files are

Hi,

I have a student license for Parallel Studio Cluster Edition for Linux that expired in the beginning of July. I still have more than a year as a student and want to renew it, but I couldn't find what procedure to follow. Is it impossible?

Parallel studio XE 2016 update 3 and Visual Studio integration crash

$

I just installed Visual Studio 2015, latest download, checked all boxes (installed everything), and after installation, everything works fine. Then I open up Parallel Studio XE 2016 update 3 installer, install the default packages and integration with VS and now every time I open VS, it opens the default page just fine, but whenever I try to open/create new project, read the About tab, open any menu item, and visual studio just crashes.

I had VS 2012 previously, but it's been deleted and every file/folder it ever created has also been deleted. Every extra component I could find removed etc.

So what could be the problem? How would I even start diagnosing the problem. OS is Windows 10.

BUG Report: Installation parallel studio xe 2016 update 3 arch linux

$

Hallo,

this is a bug report for the people using parallel studio 2016 update 3 on arch linux (it may also involve other versions of parallel studio). Normally those problems appear in future linux distributions, since arch is a rolling release and always on newest stable software. I also didn't find anything in the forum so I'm posting this.

During the installation process in the activation section the activation process over a license server can hang up. (alternative activation -> activation over license manager)

In particular the process chklic in the folder tools receives the license files from the given license server. After getting all files it starts again to receive the files from the license server instead of checking if everything needed is already downloaded. Thus this activation process will loop forever.

A workaround is easy after one loop has been passed you can turn off your internet connection, so you force the installer to check the files locally. You can view the log files in /tmp intel.issa ..... log and wait until you see the same chklic processes called again or you look in top or so. Make sure it is really the same process because chklic will be called with many different arguments. Otherwise wait 30 min before you disconnect your internet connection this should be enough time. Now the installer should go on.

( the return code of chklic
 0x01  Had Error.
 0x02  Saw valid licenses.
 0x04  Saw counted licenses.
 0x08  Valid licenses authenticated.
 0x10  Counted licenses authenticated.
0x20  Counted licenses can not be checked out because license server is down.
 0x40  Feature has expried.

INFO in log file in /tmp

INFO: LicenseHandler::GetChkLicCode(): 0
seems to say license valid from license server go on. This will go on forever until you cap the internet connection then
INFO: LicenseHandler::GetChkLicCode(): 2
and the activation process has succeded
)

For arch users please make sure you have cpio installed and glibc (if the installer shows no glibc found just be sure you have it installed, the installer just checks the version of glibc wrong) and I recommend not using the graphical installer it does not show you all the errors. Hopefully this helps some people and I posted it in the right section of this forum.

If my description is not enough please let me know but since it is a really specific problem and easy to work around I didn't post all logs.

Best,

Max

We currently have a licensing server supporting 5 machines.  Recently, we order 3 2-seat floating licenses?  How are these licenses installed and how do I configure the machines with the compilers to use these licenses.

Thanks

Dear All,

I registered my product yesterday. I have received two emails about this. One of them has a subject below.

"Your registration of Intel® Parallel Studio XE Cluster Edition for Linux* is complete!"

Then, my serial number has been registered but the product is not showing up in my account. How do I fix this problem?

License file error for installation in a single, shared file server

I have a similar problem to a thread by Sam M. on Mon, 06/06/2016 - 12:24. (https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/intel-software-development-produ...)

The thread has been closed so I opened a new thread for a question.

James T. mentioned to install the runtime-only components (libraries, collectors, etc.) on all the computing nodes to resolve the problem.

I don't know how to install runtime-only components once parallel studio has been installed on the head node.

It would be appreciated if you guide me how to do it.

Regards.

ifort error in computing nodes - Error: A license for Comp-FL is not available (-9,57).

Hi,

I have the same issue with a thread by Sam. M on 06/06/2016 (https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/intel-software-development-produ...)

I wanted to add a question on that thread but it has been closed. So I opened a new thread.

I installed parallel studio 2016 cluster on the head node. the install dir is shared by all the computing nodes.

On the head node, ifort works well. On a computing node, it complains about "Error: A license for Comp-FL is not available (-9,57)." when ifort was run.

What I want to know is  how to install the runtime-only components (libraries, collectors, etc.) on all the computing nodes once the parallel studio has been installed on the head node.

Thanks in advance.

Lost account, no longer able to download licensed Fortran Compiler

I have been renewing my Fortran license every year, and it is good through this December. I recently got a new computer and decided to download the latest Fortran version. I found a link in my one of my old emails and downloaded the latest installer. I was then asked to update my profile, and I changed my email address, because I no longer have access to the original email associated with this account. I think that started the problem, because the new email address I used is associated with a different account/license from about about 10 years ago. So now when I log in it says my support ended 10 years ago. I cannot download any installers at all. I no longer can see any of my recent serial numbers in my account. I tried to click on an email link to register the serial number I have from Dec 2014, but it says the number is no good. I can't find my Dec 2015 renewal email, but I don't think the license number changed.

I have tried to install an older 2015 Fortran, which I think should work with the serial number I have, but it didn't work. I have been using that same license number sine 2011. Perhaps the number goes with a 2013 Fortran. How can I recover this lost account? I can't just change the email back to what it was, since I no longer have access to it.

My product is Intel® Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran Windows

No available sources found - Parallel Studio XE 2015 Update 6

I am using Software Manager to install the update.

At the Options step, expanding

+ Intel C++ Compiler XE 15.0 update 6

tells me there are "No available sources found" for Intel C++ Compiler XE for Intel 64.

Similarly

+ Intel Math Kernel Library 11.2 Update 4

there are "No available sources found" for Intel MKL core libraries for Intel 64

I've read the Install instructions, which say "automatically makes the appropriate selection of binaries, scripts and text

files from the installation archive based on the Intel architecture of the host system"..

This is a 64 bit Intel system, so we need the Intel 64 installation sources.

Thanks in advance.

License not working for Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE 2013 SP1 on new computer

$

Got new computer.

Had to have re-install Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE 2013 SP1 on the new computer. Downloaded that, but it would not accept the license key I have. So, my computer administrator got the 30-day trial running that works fine, but the clock is ticking.

I go to registration center:

https://registrationcenter.intel.com/en/products/

And subscription history:

https://registrationcenter.intel.com/en/products/subscription/373/

I go to MANAGE and then 'Activate Serial Number' and put in the new Host ID that I got from ipconfig (physical address) and click on the 'Activate Serial Number' button. But the Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE 2013 SP1 is still running on a 30-day trial, even after I reboot.

What am I missing?

There is a plan to get the latest version of Fortran, but that's swimming around in the purchasing spin cycle, so who knows how long that will take. In the meantime I'd the Fortran not go poof after 30 days. Any help would be appreciated.

What licensing info should accompany Intel MPI library redistributable files?

$

I have developed a C++ Windows application, using the Intel MPI library, that will be packaged up to include the Runtime Environment files (as specified by the 'redist-rt.txt' file).  As the customer has a bunch of lawyers watching over their shoulder, the licensing information for everything used in the application is being scrutinized.

Even though the 'redist-rt.txt' file itself is NOT included in its list, I thought it prudent to include it anyway in my application's package, so to prove that I was legally allowed to include those specific Intel MPI library Runtime Environment files.  However, the text in this file references the "accompanying End User License Agreement".  So, it seems as the 'mpi-rtEULA.rtf' file (in the "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\IntelSWTools\\compilers_and_libraries_2016.2.180\\licensing\\mpi" directory) should also be included in my application's package.  And I think the 'mpisupport.txt' file should be included too, since that identifies the version of the Intel MPI library files (version 5.1 Update 3, in this particular case).

Two questions have come up so far:

Can the 'redist-rt.txt', 'mpi-rtEULA.rtf' and 'mpisupport.txt' files be legally redistributed with the application packaging, since they are not specifically listed in the 'redist-rt.txt' file?

I have discovered that the 'mpi-rtEULA.rtf' file is exact copy of the 'mpiEULA.rtf' file.  In this 'mpi-rtEULA.rtf' file, it is clearly identifying itself as the license for the *Development* product, not the 'Runtime Environment' files.  The particular item of the EULA that was flagged by the customer's lawyers on the first pass was the '2. Consent' section, where it grants Intel the right to 'collect information'.  While that is perfectly fine for the development platform, such an item for the customer's computers (upon which the application package is to be used, with the Runtime Environment files) is absolutely NOT allowed, due to security issues.  How can I include this EULA file when it is clearly not the appropriate one for the redistribution of the Runtime Environment files?  Where can I get the correct EULA file?

Download Links for MKL - not a duplicate question!

$

Yes I've read all the docs and all the forum posts.

Would like to find a link that will enable a download of the community MKL, with header files and all for use in development.

Not through the registration page.

From the command line, Ubuntu running on AWS EC2 cloud instance so that I can automate the process.

Example:

wget https://intel...../mkl.zip (or whatever)

gunzip mkl.zip

I have done the registration process already.

Is this a possible scenario? Or am I forever damned to signing in with a browser, clicking links, pressing enter thirty times to get through license screen, and so on?

The idea is that I have developed a library with dependencies and need to Travis it.

Additionally, as per this issue https://github.com/travis-ci/travis-ci/issues/4604 would be really sweet if this could get resolved so that we might all get along with the business of using these wonderful libraries without all the headaches--It's been a few years now that the community edition is out.

I am deeply surprised to find how poorly integrated Intel community products are in the open source workflow!

general information on licensing

$

we are looking at buying some moer licenses for Fortran Composer 2015... we currently already own 2 named user licenses, and were thinking about buying 2 more named user and a 2 user floating license (we have 4 people full time that can use named, but then we have a couple people coming and going).  Is that possible to do, to mix named user and floating license?  What is the best resource to explain how all that works?  Currently, we just run the fortran on personal laptops, not on a server.  So our plan is to move to a server, and have up to 6 people using at once, 4 named and 2 floating.  Is that doable?

I currently have XE 2013 and was waiting for a license so I can download the latest patches.  It arrived today but it was for XE2016 and when I selected older versions, it only went back to 2015.  What can I do to get those patches for XE2013?

Thanks

Hi,

I am a professional software developer and I need

to re-compile an old C application running on a 80186

CPU from Intel and I need to get the exactly same binary code

generated with the IC-86 Compiler V4.5.

I have already found the IC-86 version V4.0 from year 1988, but I really need the latest one V4.5 from year 1992.

Have you an idea where I could find it ?

Have Intel  this complier in its archives ?

Thanks you very much for your help.

Best regards,

Educator Floating License?

Hello,

Is it possible to have a floating license for 50 uses of the Educator Intel® Parallel Studio XE Cluster Edition for Windows*?  I have 50 individual licenses but the one by one activation makes re-imaging our student teaching labs a bit of a hassle every 6 months.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Updated serial number, but expiration date doesn't change

I renewed the license before expiration, and the vendor gave me a new serial number. I opened Intel software manager, clicked the activation buttons for Intel Math Kernel Library 11.3 and Intel Parallel Studio XE 2016, which expire in 28 days. It says "Congratulations! Your purchased product has been activated", and the serial number changed from the old one to the new one, but somehow the expiration date is still the old date. it still says that both software will expire in 28 days. Can anyone help me, please?

"Invalid Serial Number" on transferred "Intel® Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for C++ Windows"

I posted here for help a few months ago and gave up back then, since I had other things I needed to do for work. Now I do really need to be able to use the Intel MKL, so I am back requesting assistance.

Looking at my product information, my service support expired on December 09, 2015, meaning that I should be able to install and run anything released before then that I have a license for. I've tried to install Parallel Studio XE 2013 and 2016 update 1, and both tell me I have an invalid license, even though I just got an automated email from Intel today with the license file for Parallel Studio (I forget exactly how I triggered the email, but I did receive it today, and the file matches the old license files I have since I last was trying to figure this out earlier this year). I am unable to activate online, most likely due to the corporate firewall blocking all unauthorized outbound ports.

Please advise.
