Error: A license for FCompL is not available

I applied for the Educator Intel® Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran OS X* 2017 in the Academic Program as Educator and then provided the Host ID (of our license server) to activate the serial number. We downloaded the license file onto our license system and we get the error message:

$ ifort

Error: A license for FCompL is not available (-5,412).

Make sure that a license file is being used that contains a license for the requested feature. If your license requires a license server, make sure that the server is using the right license file (usually, this would be the same license file that is being used by this application), and make sure that you have not changed the license file since starting the server.

License file(s) used were (in this order):
1. Trusted Storage
** 2. /.../composer_xe_2013_sp1.2.144/Licenses
** ...
** 6. /.../l_ics_2013.1.046/composer_xe_2013_sp1.2.144/bin/intel64/*.lic

Please visit http://software.intel.com/sites/support/ if you require technical assistance.

ifort: error #10052: could not checkout FLEXlm license

One difference with the license file from the previous year is that I have to supply a 12-character Host ID now, while the previous license had "ANY". Now only the following licenses are started:
**:**:** (INTEL) Server started on **** for:
**:**:** (INTEL) ********* (consisting of: Comp-FM
**:**:** (INTEL) Comp-OpenMP Comp-PointerChecker DAAL-M
**:**:** (INTEL) FCompM MKernM)
while the license file also contained FCompL last year:
**:**:** (INTEL) Server started on ***** for:
**:**:** (INTEL) ********* (consisting of: AdvXEl
**:**:** (INTEL) ArBBL CCompL DbgL
**:**:** (INTEL) FCompL IClsTktL ITrAnlL
**:**:** (INTEL) ITrAnlW ITrColL MKernL
**:**:** (INTEL) MPass MPassL PerfAnl
**:**:** (INTEL) PerfPrimL StaticAnlL ThreadAnlGui
**:**:** (INTEL) ThreadBB)

We get a link to https://registrationcenter.intel.com/regcenter/Download.aspx?productid=1938&pass=yes, where the only link to available actions points to https://registrationcenter.intel.com/en/products/subscription/262/. In the Submission History, we see that the serial number cannot be renewed and when we try to download the Intel Software License Manager, we get referred to the former page.

The Intel Software License Manager also does not seem to be available on https://software.intel.com/en-us/qualify-for-free-software/educator.

This issue may be similar to https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/intel-software-development-products-download-registration-licensing/topic/500818, which seems to have been solved using private communication.

It might also be related to the change in the licence management: "We have made changes to our licensing model and feature codes. In order to install the current and future releases and take advantage of new features you will need to upgrade your product and get a new serial number." on https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/required-product-license-upgrade-for-intel-parallel-studio-xe-2016.

Although I know the guides about downloading product old versions, I cannot see the download link for old versions. I have a registered account but I think guides are too old.

SOLVED: ifort installation and activation via flexlm successful, but cannot run ifort

$

While writing this forum entry text, I kept experimenting with a few further ideas to solve the problem, and by chance I could fix it. Nevertheless, this may help others, so I am still posting this:

On vanilla linux systems, I have just installed flexlm with a valid (new) license file on one machine (license server).
On another machine, I have installed the full compiler package (icc, ifort, mkl, etc., Version 16.0.3.210 Build 20160415), choosing activation via the just installed flexlm on the other machine. Upon query by the installation script, I entered the port number (28518) and machine name, and after a while the script told me
"Activation completed successfully"
Assuming that all is fine, after the installation finished (and after running compilervars.sh), I tried to use "ifort", but kept getting this message:

Error: A license for Comp-FL is not available (-76,61026,2).
License file(s) used were (in this order):
... ... ...(some lines deleted).... .... ....
ifort: error #10052: could not checkout FLEXlm license

Using telnet, I have verified that from the other machine I can reach the license server machine on port 28518.
And, as suggested elsewhere in this forum, I have generated a license checkout log by setting the environment variable INTEL_LMD_DEBUG (letting its contents point to a filename of my choice); sadly, however, the long output generated there did not really help me (although presumably it does help the experts).

In the above error message text, at the location "some lines deleted", several directories are listed where the compiler searches for a license file. Coming from earlier installations w/o license servers, I mistakenly assumed that with flexlm in place and after having made successful contact with this flexlm during compiler installation/activation, it is o.k. that in those locations there really is no license file -- because the compiler should contact the license server, and there of course a license file is present (I copied it there). HOWEVER, getting desperate, I simply copied my license file (the same one I copied to the license server) also to one of those locations, and *bingo* things instantly worked.

What I still do not understand is why a local license file is still necessary, after successful activation of the compiler suite during installation, and (accepting for the moment that this is needed) why the compiler installation script (install.sh) failed to provide for that or at least instruct me to do such a copy manually.

(By the way, I also wonder why this version of install.sh does not remind me to source compilervars.sh; all the previous versions always did that, at the end of the installation.)

So, again, maybe the above helps some other users,
and just out of interest I still would appreciate an answer to those questions at the end.

Which HOST ID

Hi,

We have just purchased Parallel Studio XE Cluster NmdU and plan to perform an offline installation. Search through the forum with many similar issue but not sure about the exact answer

We will be using a precompile version hence the we do require a license file to activate it. However we have multiple NIC on the machine. Most of the eth including eth0 is running on local private network but eth1 is connected to the public (net). Should we use eth0 or eth1 as host id ?

Thanks

Mike

Problems uninstalling icc

$

I was looking at how to uninstall the icc directory because I want to do a fresh install of icc.  Now when I looked at the notes in intel they said something about removing the intel directory where icc,etc is stored.  I did that and when I try to do reinstall icc I get the following error message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Initializing, please wait...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Intel(R) C++ Compiler Professional Edition for Linux* 11.0 is already
installed.

If you want to reinstall the Intel(R) C++ Compiler Professional Edition for
Linux* 11.0
please uninstall current version and run install script again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Press "Enter" key to quit:

What is going on with this?  How do I resolve this issue?  What should i do to completely uninstall icc so I can reinstall it again.  I am trying to install this for a 64 bit machine because I was getting error messages saying that my libstdc++.so.5 was not in the right ELF class.  I said something about that this was a 32 ELF class when I have a 64 bit machine.  Any ideas on how to resolve these issues and also make a fresh install?

Fortran Compiler download

Hello,

for a certain software, I need the Fortran Compiler 14.0.2. This is offered as a download. However, the file size is too big to be downoladed (our system does not allow such large files to be downloaded). Which other way exists to get the Software? Is it possible for Intel to send a USB Memory stick?

I want to mention that the company I work for has support for the Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran and C++Linux until the end of 2018.

Thank you for your help.

Intel PSXE License Usage on a Cluster

$

Hi,

we want to buy the Parallel Studio XE for Linux, but are not sure about the usage of a named license.

We would load the cluster suite as a module.

But I already found a thread where it says, that you can't use it as a server wide installation with multiple users at once.

Therefore we thought about a different usage:

1. Compile stuff with the user intel.

2. Use the compiled stuff with the user dennist

So, is it possible to compile stuff with one user and use it with eg. IMPI/OMPI as another user?

Furthermore, how does the named license actually work on a cluster? Do I have to choose a user while installing the suite so that only the specified user can use the suite? Or do I just have to type in a license/key?

I would really appreciate your help.

Best regards,

Dennis T.

Question

license for Comp-CW "expired" with new serial number

$

Hi - I am teaching a course using Parallel Studio XE 2016 Cluster Edition that was installed originally in Fall of 2015. I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 on a 16-core Mac Pro.

That 1-year license just expired, so I applied for a new one and was given the serial number yesterday.

When I used Intel Software Manager to input the new serial number, all the components came up as "Support expires on October-09-17", so I thought we were good to go. The 10 components listed on the Licenses tab of SW Manager are:

  • {Advisor, Inspector, VTune Amplifier} XE 2016
  • Parallel Studio XE 2016 Cluster Edition
  • IPP 9.0, MKL, 11.3, TBB 4.4, Trace Analyzer & Collector 9.1
  • In addition, I still have the 2013 edition of C++ & Fortran Composer XE installed (which I plan to uninstall)

However, when I tried to use the compiler today I got the message:

1>MessageBuildingWithCompiler:
1>  Building with Intel(R) C++ Compiler 16.0
1>  ***** ClCompile (Win32 - Intel C++)
1>
1>  Error: A license for Comp-CW could not be obtained
1>  Your license has expired.

Just before the previous license expired, this was working (i.e., earlier in the week).

I have not applied the latest Update 4 for Cluster Edition (for fear of needing to recheck/revise my lab instructions). Anyway, I doubt if that would cause the license issue.

Please let me know what I have to do to get the product working again!

Running Parallel Studio single user license on cluster

$

I need to know how, or even if, I can use Parallel Studio on a cluster (in parallel) with a single user license. We only have one analyst that needs the software so we don't want to buy a Flexlm license, but the single user license is hardware specific and won't work shared out to multiple nodes. My question is if we're allowed to do this under the user agreement, and if so, do I need to create a license file for each node or is there another method.

Does the executable compiled with trial version expire ?

Hi every one,

I am interested to use the Intel Fortran Compiler, which was free for non-commercial use some days ago :(
Especially I want to check if it is well compatible with ubuntu distribution 16.04 LTS, thus if you have already some feedback, please let me know here.

I plan to download the free-30 days version of "Intel® Parallel Studio XE 2017", and my main wondering is the following :

Does the executable compiled with trial version still usable after the 30 days ?

many thanks for the clarification,

best regards,

JC

I just grabbed the trial of the Intel compiler, and I'm getting the following error both from command line and visual studio for all projects:

error #10052 when creating new user profile

$

Hi,

I have a license for Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran - for Windows on my laptop. The program was running fine until I created a new user profile on my computer. I now get "error #10052: could not checkout FLEXlm license" when trying to run while in the new user profile.

I have moved all unhidden and hidden Intel files to the new user profile. All environment variables are identical.

According to my RegistrationCenter account, my license has expired. However, it indicates that it expired in July, around the time I purchased the software from CDW. So I am unable to re-activate the software.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Annoying "Buy Intel Parallel Studio 2016 Cluster Edition" messages

I repeatedly (once a day) get a popup advertising to buy "Intel Parallel Studio 2016 Cluster Edition".

Even though I always click "Do not remind me again" it shows up again.

Yesterday I complete uninstalled "Intel Parallel Studio 2016" and it still showed up this morning.

What can I do to get rid of this very annoying message?
